I was born in Oslo a very long time ago, but I have spent most of my life abroad. This dual belonging is at the heart of this site: I know Norway from the inside, with its codes and habits, while rediscovering the country on my regular returns with a visitor's eyes. So I see both what is obvious to a Norwegian and what can puzzle a traveller arriving.
Over my stays in the country, I built up a list of very concrete tips that I would pass on to friends and family before their travels: how to pay, rent a car, park without a fine, hike safely or understand the local mindset. I ended up gathering them here so they can serve as many people as possible.
This guide is independent and free. It is not affiliated with any of the brands or apps mentioned. If I name them, it is simply because they are useful on the ground. Practical details, in particular prices, hours and rules, can change: I therefore invite you to check them before you leave.
